Composite Photo Critique
The artist of this composite photo is named Jim Kazanjian. Jim currently lives in Portland, Oregon. In 1990 he recieved his BFA at the Kansas City Art Insitute, then in 1992 he got a MFA from the Art Centre College of Design. Jim is currently working at the Logic Factory. I think this work was done by photo shopping with a lot of different layers. I think the black and white affect was necessary because there's so many different layers and colours added in to the photo, having that affect makes it look more even. I think the original photo is the old abandond house. I think the scenry around the house was added into the photo for example the sky and tree's. I especially think the snow was added into the photo considering there is no snow on the house but there is a lot on the ground. I think the results is very pleasing, it's very interesting to look at, the building is neat looking. It's very gloomy and cool looking.

Digital Painting
The first photo is of Taylor. One reason i think he looks like a doll is because his skin looks smooth and polished all around his face. His skin looks almost like plastic. Another reason is because his facial expression is very plain. The shadow behind him also gives him a three dimensional effect.
The second photo is called "Rainbow" because of the variety of colours spread throughout the image. The colours are mix more as they go towards the centre. This gives the image a very cool affect, almost as if the colours are being sucked in.
The last photo is called "Bubbles" because the only things other than the background are bubble shaped. I think the vibrant neon colours are very effective, especially with the black background. I think the simplicity in this image makes it interesting to look at. The only shapes used are bubble shapes but there is still a lot going on.

Poetry Book Cover
For my poetry book cover, I wanted a calm relaxing look. I thought a sunset on a beach was very calm and relaxing so I found a beautiful photo of a sunset. I think this photo is suits a poetry cover, it's a very beautiful simple cover and I think it has a nice look. My favourite thing about this photo is the person sitting on the bench, I think it's a nice effect to the photo. I think the contrast is appealing and eye catching. This cover is suited for a poetry book because poetry is relaxing and when people read poetry they are in a relaxing atmosphere, like the beach.

Multicultural Festival Poster
For my Guelph Multicultural Festival poster I wanted to show all of these different countries and cultures holding hands and celebrating. All of the little flag people are the same size because I wanted to show equality between each country. I wanted the little flag people holding hands because during the Multicultural Festival we will be sharing our cultures with each other. Holding hands symbolizes respect and interest in eachother. I love the yellow gradient because it's a bright happy colour. I put flags on the people to show ethnic diversity that will be at the festival. This poster should be chosen over other's because it shows everything the festival is about.

Mobile Art Installation
For the mobile art installation group project my partners were Taylor and Kyleigh. We used pop cans on our mobile, we cut the cans up and so we could have a more rustic look. We noticed our cans fell into two different types of colours, we had our warm colours which were the reds and browns and our cold colours which were blues and greens. We seperated our warm and cold colours on our mobile, and in between the colours we had our focal point which was a styrofoam ball that had glued peices of cans sticking out. We had a hard time balacning out the cans on each side so it would be even but after playing with it for awhile we managed to balance it. Our theme is a rustic reclying, we loved how the cans were shiny and caught your eye really fast, it was the main reason why we choose cans.
Digital Portrait
In this photo, I used a black and white affect. I also cropped the left side of the photo that wasn't necessary. Another thing I did was I used the clone stamp tool, on the door there was a part that stuck out that looked unattractive. I used the clone stamp and put the sky over the door. I saw a great opportunity to take this photo, the sky was bright and the ocean was a beautiful colour. The photo is of my brother and sister, the emotion is a sibling bond fascinated by the ocean.
In this photo, I saw a great opportunity to take a photo because of the beautiful sunset. I purposely took the photo so it was a rule of thirds angle, I love taking photos that way it's appealing to me. The photo is of my dad, he was enjoying the sunset and I feel like the emotion is very relaxed. When I photo shopped this I put on the film grain affect. I used that affect because it didn't dull the colour of the sunset which was the main reason I took the photo, also it made the photo sharper.
In this last photo, I took a picture of a lizard in Mexico. It was very common to see lizards anywhere in Mexico. I had an opportunity to get up close to one so I took a photo of the lizard on a really interesting angle. The emotion in this photo is a typical lizard lying on the grass I daylight. The photo is very vibrant, I love that about the photo. When I photo shopped it I used the dry brush affect on the photo, I also cropped it because there was a lot of unnecessary grass area.
